Christmas Blessings to all!

We are thankful for the continued support of the ELC ministry. The parents and children are such a blessing to us. The safety of children is extremely important to us. We continue to have precautions in place to lessen the possible exposure of the children to the virus, but we cannot prevent it entirely. We work closely with the Macon County Health Department and the official DCFS guidelines to remain informed of all updates.

There has been a financial impact on the ELC with the limitations imposed by Macon County Health Department and DCFS. The limited hours of operation and lack of classroom flexibility have had a significant negative impact financially. We have been blessed to receive PPP funding and the Child Care Restoration Grant this year. This has allowed us to continue to operate and pay our staff. However, we cannot count on the extra financial support for next year, and we are also facing a minimum wage increase in January.

With the long-term future of this ministry in mind, the ELC Board has made the decision to implement a modest tuition increase in January so we can continue to provide the quality care you desire. Click the link to download the new rates that apply to your family: Private or CCRS

Additionally, we have a quarantine update:

  • If your child needs to quarantine, you will continue to be billed full rate. You can use a vacation week for one week of the quarantine period if you have not used one in the past 6 months. If additional quarantine periods are needed in the future, billing will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
  • If your child’s classroom is closed, but your child is not required to quarantine per the Macon County Health Department, you will not be billed for the time you were unable to bring your child.

If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to direct them to me. I meet with the ELC Board on a regular basis and I would be glad to bring them your feedback. Thank you for sharing your children with us. They are a joy.

We pray that this Christmas season brings your family hope, joy, peace, and love.

In His love,

Kim Newingham (kim@spldecatur.org)
